WHO IT MAY SUIT

Existing clients seeking a considered review of their home, belongings and personal liability exposures.

This is a selected service rather than a high-volume retail comparison. The property, occupancy, location, sums insured and claims history must fit an available insurer market.

WHAT WE REVIEW

  • 01Building rebuild cost
  • 02Contents replacement value
  • 03Flood, bushfire and storm exposure
  • 04Accidental damage options
  • 05Portable and valuable items
  • 06Occupancy, renovations and security

PRACTICAL COVER REVIEW

Set cover around replacement cost, not the property sale price.

A useful review separates the cost of rebuilding the home from the cost of replacing everything kept inside it. Limits, definitions and optional benefits then need to suit the household.

01

Building sum insured

Allow for demolition, professional fees, updated building standards, labour, materials and site access.

02

Contents sum insured

Room-by-room estimates can reveal how quickly furniture, appliances, clothing and everyday possessions add up.

03

Items away from home

Jewellery, hearing aids, bicycles, laptops and other portable items may have limits or require specific cover.

WHY THE DETAILS MATTER

A practical home insurance review looks beyond the headline limits.

Understand what forms part of the building

Garages, decks, pools, fences, solar systems and fixed improvements may be treated differently between policies. Renovations and unoccupied periods also need to be disclosed.

Check category and item limits

A total contents sum insured does not remove every sublimit. Jewellery, artwork, collections, sporting equipment and portable electronics may need individual attention.

Consider optional protection

Accidental damage, motor burnout, portable contents and increased limits may be available depending on the product. We discuss which options are relevant before cover is placed.

Prepare for a smoother claim

Keep photographs, receipts, valuations and a simple home inventory for significant items. Accurate records can help demonstrate ownership, condition and value.

Cover is subject to insurer acceptance, the policy schedule, applicable policy wording or Product Disclosure Statement, limits, conditions and exclusions. This information is general and does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about home & contents insurance.

These answers are general. The quotation, schedule and policy wording determine the cover offered.

How much should I insure the building for?

The amount should reflect the likely rebuilding cost, not the market value of the land and house. A building-cost calculator or professional estimate may help.

Are valuables automatically covered away from home?

Not always. Category limits, item limits and geographic conditions vary. Some items may need to be specified on the schedule.

Does home insurance automatically include flood?

Flood treatment varies by insurer and risk location. The quotation, schedule and Product Disclosure Statement should be checked.

Can Intapp help new personal-only clients?

Our personal insurance service is primarily for existing commercial clients and selected referrals, subject to insurer appetite.
